Prospect Information
Freshman - A student without college credit or earned college credit prior to high school graduation through dual enrollment. Any First-Time Freshman student interested in admission to LeMoyne-Owen College must have graduated from an accredited high school with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) or have successfully completed the General Education Development (GED) Test.
Transfer Student - A student that took courses equivalent to those at LeMoyne-Owen College, while attending another college/university, but not including credit earned prior to completing high school. The courses transferred for credit toward a degree at LeMoyne-Owen College must have been completed at a regionally accredited college or university.
Readmit - A former LeMoyne-Owen College student who has taken a break in their studies and now wishes to re-enroll without attending another institution in the meantime.
-OR-
A former LeMoyne-Owen College student who transferred to another institution and now wishes to return to LeMoyne-Owen College.
ASAP (Accelerated Studies for Adult Professionals) - An ASAP student is a student 18 years or older who wishes to complete a degree in Criminal Justice, Business or Religion through an online program. The Accelerated Studies for Adults and Professionals (ASAP) program is designed to meet the needs of working adults who are typically employed full-time and are highly committed to completing their degrees.
Non-Degree seeking student - an individual who enrolls in credit or noncredit courses without the intention of earning a formal degree or certificate. These students may take courses for personal enrichment, professional development, skill enhancement, or to meet prerequisites for future academic or career goals. While they have access to many of the same classes and resources as degree-seeking students, they are typically not required to fulfill general education requirements or follow a specific academic program.
Transient student - a student who is actively enrolled in a degree program at another accredited college or university but temporarily takes courses at a different institution, typically for one term or summer session. The purpose is usually to earn credits that will transfer back to their home institution to satisfy degree requirements. Transient students must often obtain approval from their home institution to ensure that the courses taken will be accepted for credit. They are not seeking a degree from the host institution and typically have a streamlined admissions process.
Dual enrollment student - a high school student who is simultaneously enrolled in both high school and college courses, earning credit that may apply toward both a high school diploma and a college degree.
